In India, each region has some special routine, dish, ritual to follow. Base behind the concept of rituals are same only the ingredients keep changing ! similar idea is behind the Thali concept in each region.
To understand why we drink Kadu kadha in Goa you need to understand the concept of Desha. According to Acharya Charaka Desha is the habitat meaning geographic region. Acharya Charaka has classified the Bhumi Desha into three parts. Goa is in Anup pradesh! Anupa (Wetland) has more Vata and Kapha Dosha and as per Ashtanga sangraha more Madhura (sweet) rasa in general in nature viz water, fruits, vegetables. This leads to the growth of germs, bacteria and intestinal worms as well!
Kirayte /Chirata contains anti-parasitic properties which may help eliminate helminths (parasitic worms) and other parasites. This plant helps eradicate roundworms, flukes, and tapeworms. Chirata may also relieve symptoms associated with worm infections like diarrhea and liver diseases.
